Visit Omaha Targets Growth With 2026 Marketing Plan
Visit Omaha is rolling out a 2026 marketing strategy designed to increase visitation, support local businesses and strengthen the region’s economy. Visit Omaha’s marketing team leads all leisure advertising and promotion for Visit Omaha, manages VisitOmaha.com, creates the Omaha Visitors Guide and produces social media, e-newsletters and earned media outreach. The 2026 marketing plan focuses on attracting visitors from key Midwest drive markets, including Kansas City; Des Moines, Iowa; Sioux Falls, S.D.; Minneapolis; and Chicago, and expanding outreach to new fly markets. New initiatives include improving VisitOmaha.com with keyword-driven content to capture travel demand, launching targeted digital and social media campaigns and expanding Spanish-language marketing to reach new audiences. Hot Off the Press: The 2026 Omaha Visitors Guide
The 2026 Omaha Visitors Guide is here, offering a quick look at everything new and exciting in the city. Created by Visit Omaha, this free guide features top attractions, restaurants, events and neighborhoods to help both visitors and locals explore Omaha like insiders. You’ll find maps, family activities and highlights of Omaha’s growing dining, arts and nightlife scenes. Interest in the guide remains strong. In 2025, nearly 190,000 guides were distributed through hotel brochure racks and visitor services locations. Of that number, 4,000-plus were requested online or by phone, underscoring demand from travelers planning their trips, and 540 were downloaded. Omaha Holiday Attractions Sparkle
Winter in Omaha is a season of glowing lanterns, towering trees and new attractions that bring the season’s magic to life. Zoolightful is the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium’s winter holiday event (running through Jan. 11). See glowing larger-than-life animal lanterns and sparkling lights. Volunteers Celebrate the Season at Kiewit Luminarium
Visit Omaha volunteer ambassadors gathered December 4 for a festive holiday party at Kiewit Luminarium. Refreshments, awards and entertainment set the tone for an evening of connection and celebration. The program honored standout volunteers. Darlene Palmer received the Legacy of Service Award for 24 years and 2,435 hours at the Omaha Visitors Center. John Young earned Outstanding Service Hours for contributing 188 hours in 2025. Excellence in Customer Service Awards went to Chris Olson, John Thorston and Doreen Jankovich for their dedication to visitors throughout the year. Guests enjoyed a catered spread and cocktails before exploring Kiewit Luminarium’s Night Light programming, which featured live music, immersive VR and interactive art. Visit Omaha Showcases Meetings at Chicago Event
Omaha is taking its growing meetings industry presence to Chicago this week as four team members from Visit Omaha and two partners join more than 700 meeting professionals at Holiday Showcase. The two-day gathering from December 3 to 4, hosted by Association Forum, offers planners education, networking and an exhibit hall designed to help them discover new destinations and solutions for their events. The Visit Omaha booth showcases the city’s convention and meetings offerings with its “Where Work and Play” backdrop and updated city graphics. Visitors can pick up a one-of-a-kind holiday ornament made by a Hot Shops artist and enter to win an Omaha getaway. In partnership with Gallup, Visit Omaha is also hosting a special leadership session at the conference. Tim Hodges, Ph.D., will present “The Four Needs of Followers: The Foundation of Exceptional Leadership” on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
