Mutual of Omaha Tower Progress

The Mutual of Omaha tower at 14th & Farnam Street continues to make progress on its way to becoming the tallest building in a multi-state region. If you look closely in the accompanying photo, you can see the tower crane is now attached at the 30th floor. That means the crane can now be extended higher. The headquarters building will eventually be 677 feet tall. Completion is planned for the end of 2026.

EyeSmiles Professional Building Near 161st & Dodge

Construction is under way on the EyeSmiles Professional Building in the West Dodge Health Campus. The 1-story, 13,782 sq. ft. building is just behind Methodist HealthWest and the West Dodge Medical Plaza buildings near 161st & West Dodge North Frontage Road. The actual address is 16161 Cass Street.

When the building is complete, it will be home to three health-related businesses: Braces Omaha orthodontist, Exclusively Eyecare and Burchfiel Dental. The general contractor is Pelster Construction.

First Units Coming Online in Late May at Sagebrook

The first units at the $55 million Sagebrook project will come online starting in late May. Located northwest of 96th & Giles Road in La Vista, Sagebook will have 84 rental townhomes and 180 apartment units. The townhomes are wrapping up first. The clubhouse will be completed early this summer, and the apartments will likely all be complete by the second quarter of 2026. Hubbell Realty Co. of Des Moines, Iowa, is the developer.

Cadillac Dealership Under Construction Near Village Pointe

Woodhouse Cadillac is building a 25,798 sq. ft. auto dealership and service shop at 17335 Burt Street in West Dodge Pointe. The site is located along the north side of the West Dodge Expressway near several existing car dealerships. The site is just across the street from Audi Omaha. A Genesis dealership is also planned.

Final Glass Pane Hoisted Over Eppley Terminal Drive

Hawkins Construction Company and Patriot Crane & Rigging recently put the final glass pane in place over Eppley Airfield’s front terminal drive. The $60 million canopy is 825 feet long and covers the entire drop-off and pick-up area with large-format glass panels.

The project includes more than 2,200 tons of steel that will be wrapped with architectural aluminum cladding. There is now roughly 93,000 sq. ft. of structural glass comprising the roof.

The canopy and terminal drive project is part of more than $1 billion worth of improvements underway at Nebraska and Iowa’s busiest airport.

Update on CHI Health Center Expansion

The Omaha City Council approved $10 million in interim funding for the CHI Health Center expansion and renovation. The city has committed to finance up to $100 million for the project, while MECA has committed to raise an additional $75 million from private resources. The $10 million that the city will contribute at this time allows the project to continue moving forward as the city prepares bond issuances. The project will add 90,000 sq. ft. of convention space and 25 meeting rooms. It also includes renovation of the existing convention center. – Isaiah Ang

Creighton University Construction Projects

This photo shows construction progress on two projects currently under development on the north side of Creighton University’s campus.

In the foreground is the future softball stadium, which is under construction on the southeast corner of 20th & Cuming Street. It’s a fast-track project. Completion is planned for this summer. A press box for the stadium will be completed by September.

Immediately east of the softball stadium, a couple older, industrial-type buildings are being demolished to make way for Creighton’s future baseball practice field.

In the background of the project photo is Creighton University’s future sophomore residence hall. The 5-story, 151,000 sq. ft. building is under construction on the southeast corner of 21st & Cuming Street immediately east of Creighton’s School of Dentistry. It will house 400 students. The university broke ground on the project last September. Completion is planned for fall of 2026.

Tenaska Center for Arts Engagement

Tenaska Center for Arts Engagement

The $108 million Tenaska Center for Arts Engagement is progressing toward its planned Spring 2026 opening. The 4-story, 103,000 sq. ft. building is under construction at 12th & Douglas Street. It is an addition to the east side of the Holland Performing Arts Center. The building will offer additional rehearsal, workshop and classroom spaces to accommodate Omaha Performing Arts’ education and community engagement programs, which already serve more than 100,000 students, teachers and community members each year. A large event venue will also be part of this new center.
