Top Gun Cornhusker Classic Brings 120 Softball Teams to Omaha

October 15, 2024

A premier softball tournament is coming to Omaha from October 25 to 27, bringing 120 teams from across the region. Omaha’s central location, family-friendly amenities and sporting facilities are attracting youth sport competitions, contributing to the city’s development as a winning sports destination.

The inaugural Top Gun Cornhusker Classic, poised to become a significant event on the fastpitch calendar, will offer girls ages 12 to 18 competitive action at six venues throughout the Omaha metropolitan area.

Baseball and softball comprise a significant portion of the $30 billion youth sports market, and both sports are seeing huge growth in participation, according to a 2023 report from Sports & Fitness Industry Association. Baseball is at its highest participation level in more than a decade, and softball participation grew 6 percent year over year.

Omaha is preparing to meet these growing sports’ needs and to attract even more players and fans to Omaha. In our city, we swing for the fences and hit it out of the park.
