Site preparation is now underway for two projects to be constructed on a narrow strip of land east of 8th Street between Interstate 480 and Heartland of America Park on the RiverFront. On the west side of the land, Omaha Children’s Museum is building a 4-story museum building and will move there in late 2027. The museum is currently located in a different part of downtown – 500 South 20th Street.
Just to the east of the future Children’s Museum, NuStyle Development plans to build The Beam, an $87 million, 16-story, 261-unit apartment building. Both the apartment building and museum will be supported by a city-owned parking garage immediately to the north under the interstate viaducts
