Omaha Baseball Opens Summit League Championship Play

May 20, 2026

Omaha baseball opens Summit League Baseball Championship play today against Northern Colorado in Minneapolis.

The four-team field includes top-seeded Oral Roberts, No. 2 Omaha, No. 3 Northern Colorado and No. 4 South Dakota State. Omaha went 1-2 a season ago when it hosted the event at Tal Anderson Field and is in search of its second tournament title in program history.

The loser of Wednesday’s matchup will face the loser of Oral Roberts vs. South Dakota State in an elimination game on Thursday, May 21, at 12 p.m., while the winners of each Wednesday bout will play on Thursday at 6 p.m., with the winner earning its spot in the championship.

Omaha and Northern Colorado split their regular season series earlier this season in Greeley, where after dropping the opener, Omaha won the final two games, including a wild 12-11 victory in the series finale where Omaha recorded a Division I program-record four double plays.

Omaha enters the postseason swinging some of the hottest bats in the conference. Jackson Trout leads the team, and conference, in batting average (.376), slugging percentage (.624), and OPS (1.060), while ranking second in hits (70). Trout also leads the team with nine home runs.

Aces Maddox Meyer and Tanner Foertsch have led the way for Omaha on the bump, and have each made 12 starts, combining for 123.1 innings pitched and 103 strikeouts.

The Summit League announced its postseason awards on Tuesday, May 19, with Omaha landing seven All-League selections. Jackson Trout and Tyler Bishop earned First Team honors, while Chase Diggins, Henry Zipay, Cardel Dick, Maddox Meyer and Tanner Foertsch earned Second Team recognition. Sam Beck and Nate Moquin were also named honorable mention selections.

First pitch for Wednesday’s game is set for 6 p.m. Each game of the Summit League Baseball Championship will be broadcast on the Summit League Network.
