Changemakers 2024: Strengthening Nebraska’s Workforce Through Family-Centered Prevention

October 15, 2024

By Darcie Dingman Willie

On October 16, 2024, Nebraska Children and Families Foundation (NCFF) will host Changemakers, a virtual event designed to inspire Nebraska’s business leaders, community advocates, and service providers to invest in family-centered prevention strategies. This year’s event emphasizes the direct impact of family well-being on workforce productivity and community vitality.

For nearly a decade, Changemakers has raised awareness about NCFF’s work in partnership with 23 community collaboratives across Nebraska. These collaboratives address challenges such as economic mobility, workforce readiness, and unequal access to education—particularly in rural communities. NCFF supports initiatives that offer coaching, financial literacy training, and childcare resources to parents and youth, helping them overcome obstacles that hinder economic success.

“Imagine a workplace where employees aren’t late due to transportation issues, or where no one misses work because they can’t rely on childcare,” said a representative from NCFF. “That’s what we’re working toward, and it’s why businesses need to understand the value of prevention.”

Changemakers 2024 aims to educate and inspire Nebraska’s business community to support these efforts. By providing a stable foundation for families, businesses can see increased employee productivity, reduced absenteeism, and greater retention of top talent. Moreover, thriving families attract more individuals to the community, fostering long-term economic growth.

The event will also highlight the role businesses can play in sustaining these prevention networks. Through donations or partnerships, companies can provide their employees with access to vital community resources—improving both workplace and family life.

Attendees can join local watch parties in Omaha and Lincoln or participate virtually, with a catered breakfast provided. NCFF encourages businesses to open their doors and host their teams for this impactful event. Those unable to attend live can opt for a recorded link later in the day through the “Sleep In” option.
Nebraska Children and Families Foundation’s prevention initiatives are transforming communities, and Changemakers 2024 is a chance for business leaders to learn how they can contribute. Together, through collaboration and commitment, we can ensure Nebraska families and businesses thrive.
