Crews have started installing the actual steel rails in multiple places along the future streetcar route. Rails are already in place along part of Farnam Street near Midtown Crossing, on 8th Street between Gene Leahy Mall and Heartland of America Park and along 10th Street north of Dodge Street and curving east onto Capitol Avenue. Crews will continue to set rails and pour concrete throughout this year. The 3.5-mile streetcar system will be operational in 2028 and will connect the Capitol District, to the Riverfront Parks, Old Market, the financial district, Midtown Crossing, and ultimately, the Blackstone District.
