Visiting Nurse Association will provide drive-thru immunization clinics in the parking lot of its headquarters during October. Proceeds from the annual clinics are reinvested into VNA’s Community Care services, which include shelter nursing, home health and parenting support. In 2024, VNA served 9,724 immunization clients, meeting the increasing demand for easily accessible immunizations.

More than 2,200 participants last Saturday walked in the Susan G. Komen: More Than Pink Walk around Werner Park. The event raised more than $450,000 for cancer research, treatment and education.

Starting at 2 p.m. last Thursday, Open Door Mission president and CEO Candace Gregory began a 24-hour livestreamed podcast outside the Lydia House called “Conversations on a Bench.” During the stream, Gregory talked with various guests and passersby in an effort to shine a light on the positive change happening at Open Door Mission.

The Omaha Community Foundation reported last week that, in 2025, the organization awarded a total of $147,319 to 11 local organizations from three specialized grant funds: Creche Childhood Education Fund, Jetton Charitable Fund and Richard A. Shaw Fund. Each fund supports specific programming in the community, driven by the intent of donors who established the funds. Awarded nonprofits include Completely KIDS, Keep Omaha Beautiful and more.
