Since the severe storm hit on August 9, Heartland Hope Mission has been in Blair, assisting families that were affected. Nearly 20 families have been identified that will need long-term disaster case management assistance. Heartland Hope Mission’s West Omaha location is serving as a Disaster Response Center to provide essential support to storm victims.

Preserve Omaha is hosting its next conference on September 20 at Yates Illuminates. The event will feature hands-on preservation demonstrations, expert talks, a behind-the-scenes Ford Conservation Center tour and a happy hour.

On Tuesday, the Omaha City Council approved a plan to disburse money from Keno profits to four Omaha food banks. Each of the following nonprofit pantries will be receiving $37,500: Food Bank for the Heartland; Saving Grace Perishable Food Rescue; Together, Inc.; and Heart Ministry Center.

This week, 166 people completed a 50-mile march in Papillion to raise money and awareness for veterans. This year alone, the march raised $750,000 for the 50 Mile March Foundation, which assists veterans facing mental health challenges and homelessness.
