Early Stages of a Billion Dollar Terminal Expansion
The early stages of Eppley’s $950 million terminal expansion and modernization project are now underway. The work shown in this photo is right inside the first floor terminal entrance. The work is being completed in phases. By the time the entire project is done in 2028, Eppley’s terminal will nearly double in size, add two gates and be equipped for regularly scheduled international flights. Groundbreaking for Gretna Apartment Project
Metonic Real Estate Solutions and City of Gretna officials held a groundbreaking ceremony last month for a multi-family construction project in the Gretna Landing development northwest of 192nd & Highway 370. The Gretna Landing apartments will have 220 units in five buildings plus a clubhouse, pool, pet area, playground, pickleball courts and other amenities. Other companies involved in the project include Lamp Rynearson, TRB Architecture, Access Commercial, and Ruff Grading. Gretna Landing eventually will be anchored by a Fleet Farm store. Interior Buildout for Highly Anticipated New Restaurant
Dizzy Mule Buildings in North Downtown
Brad Williams took this photo of the Dizzy Mule construction site from Charles Schwab Field during the College World Series last week. Bounded by 12th, 13th, Izard and Nicholas streets in The Millwork Commons area, the Dizzy Mule includes the renovation of an historic building plus construction of two new buildings. When complete next year, this project will have 172 apartment units with first-floor commercial space.

Baby Bob Bridge Construction
Now that the College World Series has concluded, workers are moving full speed ahead on the “Baby Bob” bridge, which will connect North Downtown with the Bob Kerry Missouri River Pedestrian Bridge. The $6 million “bridge to a bridge” is scheduled for completion in October. It will greatly improve connectivity along the Riverfront. This morning, work was underway on the decking. Mutual of Omaha Tower Construction Progress
Progress continues on the Mutual of Omaha headquarters building at 14th & Farnam Street. As of June 9th, the reinforced concrete shear tower has risen above 15 stories. When completed in 2026, the 45-story, 677-foot skyscraper will be the tallest building in a multi-state region.
UNMC Hospital Construction
The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved a $72 million contract with McCarthy Building Companies to construct the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s CORE building at Saddle Creek Road & Farnam Street. It will house administration offices and research facilities. Completion is planned for summer 2026.
Additionally, the Regents approved items related to UNMC’s Project NExT – an amendment to the interlocal agreement between UNMC and the City of Omaha and funding for the planning of Phase 1. Project NExT will be completed in phases, beginning with “Project Health,” consisting of $2.19 billion academic teaching hospital facility. The city will provide up to $45 million toward planning and construction and $20 million for public improvements. The approved funding for planning phase of Project Health totals $9.1 million and will involve engaging HDR and Kiewit Building Group.
HotPot 88 Construction
Construction is well underway and the new building is mostly enclosed for the future Hotpot 88 restaurant at 2502 South 130th Avenue. The Asian cuisine restaurant is located on the site where Stoysich House of Sausage once stood.
