The Crossroads Development Announces First Tenant

Gamescape by Cinemark, an indoor entertainment attraction, will be the first tenant at The Crossroads, according to a press release from Woodbury Corporation, which is developing former shopping mall at 72nd & Dodge Street. The to-be-constructed building is expected to be about 90,000 sq. ft.

Gamescape by Cinemark is “an all-in-one immersive entertainment destination” that includes movie theaters, bowling, an arcade, laser tag, a full-service restaurant and more. Gamescape by Cinemark at The Crossroads will be the company’s only location in Nebraska and is one of the first anywhere.

Salt Lake City-based Woodbury Corporation is developing the $850 million Crossroads project with its partner WRK Real Estate. The mixed-use development west of the existing Target store, will include residential, retail and office buildings as well as a public plaza and public parking structures.

“We have been excited to share this tenant, and there’s nothing like it in the area,” said Jeff Woodbury, senior vice president of development and acquisitions at Woodbury Corporation. “It’s the perfect first tenant that will set the tone for the rest of The Crossroads project. Without the leadership of the city and mayor, we would not have been able to get this deal done with Cinemark. We look forward to continuing to work with Mayor Jean Stothert and her team to bring high-caliber tenants to the city.”

A Groundbreaking ceremony for Gamescape will take place this June, with construction beginning immediately after.

“Gamescape by Cinemark brings a new family entertainment destination to Omaha and will be part of the revival of this true crossroads of our city,” said Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert. “Woodbury and WRK Real Estate are great partners and will deliver a spectacular development. We can all be confident in the construction timeline and Woodbury’s record of successful development all over the country.”

While Cinemark has been around since 1977 and has hundreds of theatres In the United States and Latin America, Gamescape by Cinemark is a new concept with a first location in El Paso, Tex.

Phase 1 of The Crossroads is currently underway, which includes one-third of the overall development featuring a vibrant mix of uses, including: Gamescape by Cinemark, multi-family residential units, office space, shopping and ample parking.
