The accompanying photo provided by the Omaha Airport Authority shows construction progress inside the future central pavilion at Eppley Airfield. It’s a key part of the $1 billion terminal expansion and modernization project. The central pavilion will be a spacious, open area in the middle of the expanded terminal that will house the TSA security checkpoint and a food court/shopping area.
The new terminal will have nearly double the square footage of the old one and will feature centralized security, more restaurants/shops and international arrivals capability. The terminal expansion will increase building space by 72 percent from 375,000 sq. ft. to approximately 646,000 sq. ft. Eppley serves more than 5.2 million passengers per year and is the busiest airport in Nebraska or Iowa.
